TRADITION
The quatrefoil is a pattern of four semi-circles placed in the form of a cross, often used in paintings, architecture and sculpture. This symbol was popular from the Middle Ages on throughout the Renaissance. The quatrefoil is found on upholstery, tiles and decorations of many historic buildings in Umbria and in many other Italian towns.
DESCRIPTION
This project uses different geometric constructions based on traditional, artistic designs in Umbria to interpret the symbol of the quatrefoil. Using these designs it has created perforated ceramic medallions which can be used to decorate the table, spaces in the home, clubs or at events. The decorations can also be worn as pendants or to embellish bag closures and accessories.
