The quatrefoil is a pattern of four semi-circles placed in the form of a cross, often used in paintings, architecture and sculpture. This symbol was popular from the Middle Ages on throughout the Renaissance. The quatrefoil is found on upholstery, tiles and decorations of many historic buildings in Umbria and in many other Italian towns.
The wine bottle and ice bucket are often used in bars, restaurants and clubs. This project uses the quatrefoil found in many decorations in Umbrian towns as a structure to contain four sloping bottles and ice. An embossed pattern on the bottom ensures the bottles are stable even when wet.
